Before you register

Before you register as a Claimant Representative with MedCo, your organisation must be registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and provide a valid ICO number which we will verify with the ICO register of fee payers. If you do not have an ICO registration, you can find out how to register on the ICO website www.ico.org.uk

Please also consider the steps below before submitting an application to register.

Step 1: Professional identification

To register as a Claimant Representative we will check with your regulator that you are authorised to conduct litigation in England and Wales.  Accordingly, you will be required to provide your regulator identification number as issued by the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority (SRA), the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) or the Bar Standards Board.

To register as a Claims Management Company, we require evidence that you are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and that you also have permission to conduct personal injury activity in England and Wales.

This information is used as a part of the due diligence checks to confirm your organisation is suitable to use the MedCo service.
